Napoleon Ascent 42-inch Millivolt Ignition Direct Vent Fireplace

The Napoleon Ascent 42-inch Millivolt Ignition Direct Vent Gas Fireplace brings a traditional fireplace look to a built-in installation with straightforward, dependable millivolt controls. The B42NTR operates on natural gas, while the B42PTR operates on propane. Both models are rated at a maximum input of 22,000 BTU/hr at elevations from 0 to 4,500 feet and feature a pan-style burner with flame and heat adjustment.

A realistic fire presentation is created with the included PHAZER log set, glowing embers and charcoal embers. Carefully positioned logs and ember material add depth and a natural glowing appearance around the flame, while the tempered heat-resistant glass provides an unobstructed view of the fire. A standard safety barrier is also included and must remain installed during operation to help reduce the risk of contact with the hot viewing glass.

The biggest advantage is the millivolt ignition system. The pilot is lit manually using the fireplace's push-button ignitor, and the millivolt valve system uses a thermocouple and thermopile for operation. No external 110-volt or 24-volt electrical power is required to operate the gas millivolt system, making this fireplace a practical option where dependable fireplace operation without household power is desired.

The Ascent 42 uses a direct vent system with a 4-inch exhaust and 7-inch combustion-air intake. The fireplace can be configured for top or rear venting, providing flexibility when planning a new installation. The venting system carries combustion exhaust outside while supplying the combustion system with the required intake air. Depending on the approved vent configuration, the system allows horizontal and vertical installations with a maximum allowable horizontal run of up to 20 feet and a maximum vertical vent length of up to 40 feet. Actual permitted vent lengths, rises and offsets depend on the specific installation configuration and must be calculated using the venting requirements in the installation manual.

Both fuel versions are rated for a maximum input of 22,000 BTU/hr from 0 to 4,500 feet elevation. 

The Napoleon Ascent 42 millivolt direct vent fireplace is designed for indoor built-in installations and is approved, when installed according to applicable requirements, for bedroom, bathroom, bed-sitting room and qualifying mobile or manufactured-home applications.
