Napoleon Rosedale RD3 Direct Vent Natural Gas Insert

The Napoleon Rosedale RD3 Direct Vent Natural Gas Insert, is designed to transform an existing approved wood-burning fireplace into a convenient and highly customizable gas fireplace. With a larger firebox than the RD2, a realistic log presentation, heat-radiating ceramic glass, and numerous decorative finishing options, the Rosedale RD3 combines traditional fireplace styling with the convenience of natural gas operation.

Operating on natural gas, the RD3N is rated for up to 24,000 BTU/hr with a minimum input of 16,000 BTU/hr. Its 7-day millivolt ignition system uses a manually lit pilot with a push-button ignitor. If there is no call for heat during a seven-day period, the pilot automatically shuts down and must be manually reset. Each new call for heat resets the seven-day timer.

A F60 thermostatic remote control is included, allowing convenient on/off and thermostat operation from across the room once the pilot is lit and the gas control is in the operating position. The supplied receiver also functions as a battery backup during a power outage when equipped with four AA batteries, helping keep the fireplace operational when household electrical power is unavailable.

The firebox can be customized with a mandatory choice of either the Birch Log Kit or Oak Log Kit. Optional decorative interiors include Black Illusion Glass, MIRRO-FLAME heat-radiating reflective black porcelain, Newport Standard Brick, and Westminster Standard Brick. A compatible faceplate and backerplate are also mandatory selections, allowing the finished insert to be tailored to the size and appearance of the existing fireplace opening.

The RD3N is designed for installation into a vented, non-combustible prefabricated or masonry wood-burning fireplace. The existing fireplace must provide a minimum opening of 29 inches wide x 21 inches high x 15 inches deep.

The Rosedale RD3N is a configurable fireplace insert. A compatible log kit, faceplate, and backerplate are mandatory selections and are sold separately.
