Napoleon Ascent 46-inch Electronic Ignition Direct Vent Natural Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Ascent 46-inch Electronic Ignition Direct Vent Natural Gas Fireplace, combines a traditional log-fire appearance with convenient electronic controls and flexible installation options. Designed as a 46-inch built-in direct vent gas fireplace, it operates on natural gas with a maximum input of 22,000 BTU/hr at elevations from 0 to 4,500 feet. A pan-style burner with flame and heat adjustment helps create a natural-looking flame pattern across the included log set.

The firebox features an included PHAZER™ Split Oak log set along with glowing ember and charcoal media for added depth and realism. The logs are arranged over the burner to create the appearance of a traditional wood-burning fire, while tempered heat-resistant glass provides a clear view of the flames. A standard safety barrier is included and must remain installed while the fireplace is operating to help reduce the risk of contact with the hot glass.

A major feature is its electronic ignition system with Pilot-on-Demand. The system uses Intermittent Pilot Ignition (IPI), automatically lighting the pilot when the fireplace is turned on and shutting the pilot down when the burner is turned off. A Continuous Pilot Ignition (CPI) mode is also available for colder conditions. When CPI is selected, an integrated seven-day timer automatically shuts the pilot off if the fireplace has not been used for approximately seven days, helping reduce unnecessary gas consumption.

The electronic ignition system uses a transformer, Digital Fireplace Control and electronic gas valve and therefore requires an electrical connection for normal operation. The installation manual's rating-plate template specifies 115V, 60Hz electrical service and lists the appliance at less than 12 amps; the actual rating plate on the fireplace should always be used to confirm electrical requirements. 

The direct vent system uses a 4-inch exhaust and 7-inch combustion-air intake. Direct venting creates a dedicated path for combustion air and exhaust rather than relying on room air for the combustion system. The B46NTRE is factory shipped for rear venting but can be configured for top or rear vent installation, giving installers additional flexibility when planning the fireplace location. Approved configurations can accommodate horizontal and vertical venting, with the manual listing maximum allowable runs of up to 20 feet horizontally and up to 40 feet vertically, depending on the specific rise, offsets and vent configuration.

The B46NTRE is intended for indoor built-in installation and is certified to CSA 2.22 and ANSI Z21.50 standards for vented decorative gas appliances. When installed according to applicable requirements, it is approved for bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting-room installations and is suitable for qualifying mobile or manufactured-home applications.
