The Napoleon Ascent 46-inch Millivolt Ignition Direct Vent Natural Gas Fireplace, brings the look of a traditional wood fire to a large built-in fireplace opening while keeping operation straightforward and dependable. Designed for natural gas, this 46-inch direct vent gas fireplace delivers a maximum input of 22,000 BTU/hr at elevations from 0 to 4,500 feet. Its pan-style burner and flame adjustment create a natural flame presentation around the included PHAZER™ Split Oak log set, glowing embers and charcoal accents.

One of the most useful features of the B46NTR is its millivolt ignition system. Unlike an electronic-ignition fireplace that depends on household electrical power for normal gas-control operation, the B46NTR uses a thermocouple and thermopile-based millivolt system. The pilot is manually lit using the built-in push-button ignitor, and the fireplace's gas-control system requires no external 110-volt or 24-volt electricity to operate. This makes the base fireplace capable of operating during a household power outage without requiring a battery-backup system.

The fire is viewed through 4 mm tempered heat-resistant glass, while an included safety barrier helps reduce the risk of accidental contact with the hot viewing surface. The wide 46-inch firebox and realistic log arrangement provide a traditional fireplace appearance that works well in living rooms, great rooms, bedrooms and other indoor spaces where a built-in gas fireplace is desired.

The direct vent system uses a 4-inch exhaust and 7-inch combustion-air intake. Direct venting provides dedicated paths for combustion air and exhaust instead of relying on the room for combustion air. The B46NTR is factory shipped for rear venting and can also be configured for a top-vent installation. 

The B46NTR is intended for indoor built-in installation and is certified to CSA 2.22 and ANSI Z21.50 standards for vented decorative gas appliances. When installed according to applicable requirements, it is approved for bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting-room installations and is suitable for qualifying mobile or manufactured-home installations.
