Majestic 32-inch Mercury Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Majestic Mercury 32-inch Direct Vent Gas Fireplace delivers a traditional fire presentation in a compact built-in design suited to bedrooms, living areas and other indoor spaces. Model MERC32IN is factory-configured for natural gas and includes the components needed to complete the standard fireplace, including a full firescreen front, angled hood, tempered viewing glass, log set, glowing embers, lava rock, gas flex connector, junction box and battery-backup system.

A detailed six-piece ceramic fiber log set creates the appearance of naturally arranged split firewood. Glowing ember material adds color around the burner ports, while lava rock provides additional texture across the base pan. The embers and lava rock must be positioned exactly as shown in the installation manual because material placed over the burner ports, ignition trail or pilot area can cause delayed ignition, poor flame performance or soot accumulation.

The fireplace includes the IntelliFire intermittent-pilot ignition system, which lights the pilot only when the main burner is operating. This electronic ignition system helps reduce unnecessary pilot-gas use and includes a battery pack for emergency operation during an electrical outage. Two D-cell batteries, not included, can operate the basic flame when household power is unavailable.

The current Mercury configuration includes a full firescreen front and matching angled hood, so no additional decorative front is required to complete the standard installation. The barrier helps reduce the risk of contact with the hot tempered glass and must remain installed whenever the fireplace is operating. The fixed glass assembly must also remain sealed and securely latched during use.

The Mercury uses sealed direct vent technology to draw combustion air from outdoors and discharge combustion exhaust outside. No additional outside-air kit is required. The appliance can be configured for either top or rear venting, allowing the vent route to be adapted to the installation. The vent direction must be selected during appliance preparation because the fireplace cannot be changed from top to rear venting, or rear to top venting, after the applicable seal cap has been removed.

An unswitched 110–120 VAC grounded electrical supply is required for normal IntelliFire operation. The fireplace uses a 3-volt transformer and may alternatively operate from two D-cell batteries during an outage. Household voltage must never be connected directly to the gas valve or low-voltage wall switch, and line-voltage and low-voltage wiring cannot share the same wall box.

Only approved non-combustible material may cover the metal face of the fireplace. Facing materials must not overlap the glass opening, block airflow, interfere with removal of the front or prevent access for service. Materials surrounding the appliance should withstand temperatures up to 190°F, and gaps between the finished wall and the appliance top and sides must be sealed with a sealant rated for at least 300°F continuous exposure.

The included front is installed as an inside-fit decorative front. Non-combustible finishing material may be installed up to 6 inches thick when stopped flush with the fireplace surround opening. Optional black three-sided and four-sided trim kits are available for installations requiring additional coverage around the finished opening.

Professional installation is required. Before initial operation, a qualified technician must verify the fuel type, gas pressures, electrical wiring, vent direction and configuration, air-shutter setting, log placement, ember and lava-rock placement, fixed-glass seal, firescreen front and hood. All packaging and the protective splatter guard must be removed before lighting the fireplace.
