Majestic 36-inch See Through Direct Vent Multi Side Gas Fireplace

The Majestic 36-inch See-Through Direct Vent Multi-Side Gas Fireplace creates a shared fire feature between two indoor living areas. Its two-sided viewing design allows the flames to be enjoyed from opposite sides of a wall, making it well suited for dividing a great room, connecting a living room and dining area or adding visual continuity between adjoining spaces.

The ST-DV36IN includes a detailed seven-piece ceramic fiber log assembly, glowing ember material, lava rock, a traditional grate and standard black steel refractory panels. Four logs are factory positioned and three additional logs are installed during appliance setup, creating a layered wood-fire appearance that can be viewed from either side.

The fireplace ships configured for natural gas and operates from 21,000 to 38,000 BTU per hour. It may be converted to propane by a qualified service technician using the separately purchased LPK-MS36-IFT conversion kit. After conversion, the propane input range is approximately 20,000 to 35,500 BTU per hour. This appliance is intended for supplemental room heat or decorative use and should not be treated as a home’s primary heating system.

The included IntelliFire Touch intermittent pilot ignition system provides dependable electronic ignition, a Cold Climate pilot setting and emergency battery-backup capability. Standard equipment includes the control module, battery holder, 6-volt transformer, 12-foot control wire, junction box, flexible gas connector and manual gas shutoff valve. 

The appliance measures approximately 42-1/2 inches wide by 38-1/8 inches high by 24-1/2 inches deep and weighs approximately 220 pounds. The required framed cutout is 43 inches wide by 38-1/8 inches high by 23 inches deep. Framing dimensions must be adjusted when drywall, sheathing or other interior chase materials are installed inside the opening.

Two MSFR-36-BK black multi-side firescreen fronts are required to complete the fireplace—one for each viewing side—and are sold separately. Each front is an inside-fit safety barrier designed to reduce the risk of contact with the hot glass. The fireplace must never be operated without both approved decorative barrier fronts properly installed. Finishing material around an ST-DV36IN inside-fit front may be up to 6 inches thick when installed according to the manual.

The fireplace offers top or rear direct venting. The vent configuration must be selected during appliance preparation because the unit cannot be changed from top vent to rear vent, or from rear vent to top vent, after the vent cap has been removed. The fireplace draws combustion air directly from outdoors and exhausts combustion gases outside, so no separate room-air or outside-air kit is required.

An unswitched 110-120 VAC electrical supply is required for normal IntelliFire Touch operation. The appliance circuit must use a minimum 14-2 AWG cable with ground and must be wired and grounded according to applicable electrical codes. GFCI protection is required where specified by code, including certain bathroom or sink-area installations. Low-voltage control wiring and line-voltage wiring must not share the same electrical box.

The ST-DV36IN is designed for indoor installations only and is not approved as an indoor/outdoor fireplace. It is certified for installation in a bedroom or bedsitting room and may be installed in an applicable manufactured or mobile home when all listed requirements are followed. The appliance is certified as a direct vent heater to CSA/ANSI Z21.88-2019 and CSA 2.33-2019.

Before initial operation, confirm that all packaging and protective materials have been removed, both glass assemblies are securely latched, logs and ember materials are positioned correctly, the gas line has been leak tested and both barrier fronts are installed. The initial break-in procedure requires operating the fireplace continuously on high for three to four hours, allowing it to cool completely and then cleaning the inside surfaces of the glass.
