The Majestic Marquis II 42-inch See-Through Direct Vent Gas Fireplace creates a dramatic connection between two indoor spaces with a clear view of the fire from both sides. Model MARQ42STIN is well suited for dividing walls, open-concept living areas and installations where the fireplace can serve as a shared focal point between adjoining rooms. The appliance is designed for indoor installation only and is not approved as an indoor/outdoor fireplace.

The MARQ42STIN is supplied for natural gas and provides an adjustable input range of 43,000 to 57,500 BTU per hour. An approved LPKMARQ42ST conversion kit is available for propane installations, providing an input range of 39,000 to 52,000 BTU per hour. This fireplace is approved for supplemental room heat and decorative use and is not intended to serve as the primary heating source for a home.

The firebox features an impressive 11-piece ceramic fiber split-log set arranged to provide a realistic presentation from either side. Mystic Embers, Glowing Embers and a Teco-Sil glass ember bed add depth and texture around the burner. Built-in accent lighting and an illuminated ember bed showcase the logs and refractory even when the flames are adjusted to a lower setting.

Two panels of 5 mm anti-reflective ClearView ceramic glass provide an expansive view through the fireplace while helping reduce distracting reflections. The approximate viewing area on each side is 39-7/16 inches wide by 35-1/8 inches high. The fixed glass assemblies form part of the sealed combustion system and must never be removed while the fireplace is operating.

The included IntelliFire Touch intermittent-pilot ignition system provides electronic ignition and is paired with an IFT-RC400 touchscreen remote at the factory. The remote controls on/off operation, flame height, thermostat settings, accent-light intensity, the electric ember bed and Cold Climate mode. The control system also includes a nine-hour safety shutdown when the fireplace operates without receiving a control command.

A factory-installed battery pack allows basic fireplace operation during a power outage using four AA batteries, which are not included. Battery power is intended only for emergency use. Accent lights, ember lighting, power venting and other auxiliary functions that require household electricity will not operate from battery backup.

Direct vent technology draws combustion air from outdoors and directs combustion exhaust outside through a sealed vent system. No separate outside-air kit is required. The fireplace is top vent only and uses approved Hearth & Home Technologies DVP direct vent components with a 5-inch inner exhaust pipe and an 8-inch outer combustion-air pipe.

The MARQ42STIN requires two approved decorative firescreen fronts and one brick refractory set to complete the installation, all sold separately. One firescreen is required for each viewing side. Available front finishes include black, gun metal and new bronze. Required refractory options include Cottage Red brick or Tavern Brown brick, allowing the firebox to complement a range of traditional room designs. The fireplace must not be operated unless the refractory, fixed glass and both protective barrier fronts are properly installed.

An unswitched 110–120 VAC grounded electrical supply is required for normal IntelliFire Touch operation, the remote-control system and the lighting features. The control valve operates on a 6-volt, 1.5-amp system. Household voltage must never be connected directly to the gas valve or low-voltage wall control, and low-voltage and line-voltage wiring must not share the same wall box. GFCI protection is required where applicable under local electrical codes.

Only approved non-combustible material may cover the metal faces of the fireplace. Facing materials must not restrict airflow, overlap the glass openings, interfere with either firescreen or prevent service access. Finishing materials around the fireplace should be rated to withstand temperatures up to 190°F, and joints between the finished wall and the appliance top and sides must be sealed with a sealant rated for at least 300°F continuous exposure.
