Majestic Cottagewood Outdoor Wood Burning Fireplace

The Majestic Cottagewood Outdoor Wood Burning Fireplace creates a traditional open-hearth focal point for patios, covered outdoor living areas and freestanding fireplace structures. Available in 36-inch, 42-inch and 50-inch sizes, the Cottagewood combines a wide firebox opening with a clean architectural face that can be finished with stone, brick, tile or another approved non-combustible material.

Standard equipment includes a steel wood grate, dual gas-line knockouts, an outside-air system, protective metal hearth strips and a stainless steel safety firescreen. The firescreen helps control sparks and should remain closed whenever wood is burning, although it cannot prevent every ember or burning material from leaving the fireplace.

A compatible refractory interior is required and sold separately. Each approved refractory kit contains a hearth panel, back panel, left panel and right panel. Traditional stacked-brick and herringbone patterns are available in Natural Gray, Black Onyx and Masonry Brown, allowing the fireplace interior to coordinate with a range of outdoor masonry and finishing materials. The Cottagewood must never be operated without the approved refractory correctly installed.

Optional stainless steel bi-fold glass doors are available. Doors must be operated either fully open or fully closed. Leaving them partly open can affect draft and pull smoke or flame toward the fireplace opening. Optional stainless steel replacement grates are also available for the 36- and 42-inch models.

Only approved non-combustible material may cover the metal face or the area below the fireplace standoffs. Finishing materials must not cover the firebox opening or block airflow, screen operation or service access. Gaps around the top and sides of the fireplace must be closed with non-combustible sealant rated for at least 300°F.

Professional installation is required. Before the first fire, the installer must confirm that the fireplace is level and secured, the refractory and grate are correctly installed, the outside-air system operates properly, the hearth and metal protective strips are complete, the chimney is properly supported and terminated and all required clearances remain open. The first three or four fires should be moderate to allow the refractory, paint and manufacturing materials to cure gradually.

The flue damper and outside-air controls must be fully open whenever wood is burning. The chimney should be inspected at least annually before use and approximately every two months during the burning season. Creosote must be removed whenever accumulation is present. Following a chimney fire, the chimney and adjacent structure must be inspected by qualified professionals before the fireplace is operated again.
