Majestic Echelon II See-Thru Top Direct Vent Fireplace

The Majestic Echelon II See-Through Top Direct Vent Fireplace creates a contemporary two-sided focal point that allows the flame presentation to be enjoyed from adjoining indoor rooms. Available in 36-inch and 48-inch models, this linear gas fireplace is designed for placement within an interior wall or room-dividing feature, providing a clear view through the firebox from both sides. Active flames rise through an illuminated glass firebed, giving each side of the installation a modern, finished appearance.

A direct vent fireplace uses a sealed combustion system that draws all combustion air from outside the building and sends combustion exhaust and fumes outdoors through an approved vent system. The fireplace does not rely on indoor room air for combustion, and no separate outside-air source is required. This design helps maintain indoor air quality while providing the convenience and visual appeal of a gas fireplace.

Each Echelon II See-Through fireplace includes clear dimmable LED lighting, bronze glass media, durable 5 mm ceramic glass, an IntelliFire Touch intermittent-pilot ignition system, an RC400 touchscreen remote, and emergency battery-backup capability. The adjustable flame-height control makes it possible to tailor the visual presentation, while the LED lighting showcases the glass firebed even when a lower flame setting is selected.

The included RC400 touchscreen remote provides control of the fireplace's on/off operation, flame height, LED light intensity, timer, child lock, cold-climate mode, hot-surface notifications, and compatible accessories. An optional IntelliFire Wi-Fi module can add app-based and compatible voice-control capabilities. These see-through models are certified as decorative gas appliances and are not approved for thermostat operation, even though thermostat functions may appear on certain IntelliFire controls.

Two compatible non-operable decorative barrier fronts are required to complete the fireplace and are sold separately, with one front installed on each viewing side. Available choices include Clean Face Trim in Black, Gun Metal, New Bronze, or Stainless Steel and a Black Picture Frame Front. The barrier mesh is integral to the selected decorative front and must be installed before the fireplace is operated. Different compatible front styles or finishes may be selected for the two rooms when the installation design calls for a different appearance on each side.

The ECHEL36STIN-C provides a variable input of 17,500 to 30,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 15,000 to 27,000 BTU per hour with propane. The ECHEL48STIN-C provides 21,000 to 40,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 20,000 to 34,000 BTU per hour with propane. The fireplaces are supplied for natural gas operation and may be converted to propane only with the appropriate certified conversion kit installed by a qualified service technician.

Decorative-appliance notice: Both the ECHEL36STIN-C and ECHEL48STIN-C are listed as vented decorative gas appliances. They are decorative in nature, are not intended to be used as a heat source, must not be included in residential primary-heating calculations, and are not approved for thermostat use. These fireplaces are also not approved for burning wood or any other solid fuel.

Minimum cutout and rough-framing dimensions are listed as width × height × depth. The ECHEL36STIN-C requires a minimum framed opening of 48-1/4 × 42 × 17 inches. The ECHEL48STIN-C requires a minimum framed opening of 60-1/4 × 42 × 17 inches. Both models require a 10-inch rough opening for the vent pipe. Framing dimensions must be adjusted for drywall, sheathing, or other interior finishing material, and a header deeper than 3-1/2 inches may require notching to maintain the required vent-pipe clearance.

Standard minimum clearances include 1 inch from the sides of the appliance, 48 inches of clear space in front of both viewing sides, 31 inches from the top of the fireplace opening to the ceiling, and 55-1/2 inches from the bottom of the appliance to the ceiling. The appliance may be installed at floor level or on a properly constructed platform, but all required clearances must be maintained. Special instructions apply when installing over or adjacent to vinyl flooring.

Important indoor-installation notice: The Echelon II See-Through fireplace is intended for indoor installations only. It is not designed or approved as an indoor/outdoor fireplace and cannot be installed with one viewing side exposed to an outdoor area. The chase must be constructed as part of the building's thermal envelope and must be properly insulated, blocked, and sealed to prevent drafts and air leakage.

Important venting requirements: These are top-vent-only fireplaces and require approved 5-inch inner by 8-inch outer Majestic DVP direct-vent components. An elbow must never be attached directly to the appliance. Both models require a minimum of 18 inches of vertical venting before attaching any elbow. The vent system must follow the model-specific vent diagrams, including allowable vertical and horizontal runs, vent supports, firestops, flashing, termination clearances, and pipe clearances to combustible materials. Insulation or other materials must never be packed into the vent-framing opening.

For vertically terminated installations with approximately 20 to 50 feet of total vertical venting, the included exhaust restrictor may be required to compensate for excessive draft and maintain the intended flame appearance. The ECHEL36STIN-C and ECHEL48STIN-C use the specified 2.5-inch restrictor setting when the restrictor is required. Restrictor use and positioning must be determined by the qualified installer according to the current vent configuration instructions.

Important framing and finishing instructions: The factory-supplied non-combustible board must be installed in the required location, the top standoffs must be rotated into their installation position, and the fireplace must be level and secured to the framing. Combustible finishing materials must not extend into areas designated for non-combustible material. Mantels, wall projections, televisions, and heat-sensitive materials must follow the clearances and surface-temperature guidance in the installation manual.

The Echelon II See-Through models may be paired with optional Passive Heat, Heat-Zone-Gas, Heat-Out-Gas, or approved power-vent systems. Passive Heat can release warmth through a front, dual-side, or open-top discharge. Heat-Zone-Gas can direct heat to an adjacent room up to 20 feet away, while Heat-Out-Gas can route heat outdoors up to 25 feet away. Heat-management components must be selected before the fireplace is framed because they can change the required chase height, clearances, discharge openings, framing configuration, and television-placement requirements.

Electrical requirements: The appliance must be connected to an unswitched 110-120 VAC electrical circuit using a minimum 14-2 AWG cable with ground. The junction box must not be wired to a switched circuit because doing so can override ignition-system safety functions. Low-voltage and 110-120 VAC wiring cannot share the same wall box, and GFCI protection is required where applicable under electrical codes. The emergency battery system is intended only for temporary use during a power outage; LED lights and other AC-powered accessories may not operate while the fireplace is running on backup batteries.

Before initial operation, a qualified technician should confirm that all shipping materials have been removed, the media and optional accessories are correctly positioned, the wiring and air-shutter settings are correct, the gas connections are leak-free, both fixed-glass assemblies are properly sealed, and both decorative barrier fronts are securely installed. The fireplace must never be operated with either fixed-glass assembly or safety barrier removed.
