Majestic Echelon II Top Direct Vent Fireplace

The Majestic Echelon II Top Direct Vent Fireplace combines a wide, contemporary profile with active flames and an illuminated glass firebed. Available in 36-inch, 48-inch, 60-inch, and 72-inch single-sided models, the Echelon II creates a clean linear focal point for modern living spaces. Each fireplace includes bronze glass media, clear dimmable LED lighting, durable 5 mm ceramic glass, the IntelliFire Touch ignition system, an RC400 touchscreen remote, and emergency battery-backup capability.

A direct vent fireplace uses a sealed combustion system that draws all combustion air from outside the building and sends all combustion exhaust outdoors through an approved vent system. Because the fireplace does not rely on room air for combustion, no separate outside-air kit is required. This design helps maintain indoor air quality while providing the appearance and convenience of a gas fireplace.

The included IntelliFire Touch RC400 touchscreen remote provides convenient control of the fireplace's on/off operation, adjustable flame height, LED light intensity, timer, child lock, cold-climate mode, room-temperature display, and compatible accessories. Thermostat functions are available only where permitted by the appliance model and certification. An optional IntelliFire Wi-Fi module can add app-based control from a compatible smart device, while an optional wireless wall switch provides simplified everyday operation.

A compatible non-operable decorative barrier front is required to complete the fireplace and is sold separately. Clean Face Trim options are available in Black, Gun Metal, New Bronze, and Stainless Steel. A Black Picture Frame Front is also available for the 36-inch, 48-inch, and 60-inch models.

Model output ranges: The ECHEL36IN-C operates from 17,500 to 30,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 15,000 to 27,000 BTU per hour after an approved propane conversion. The ECHEL48IN-C operates from 21,000 to 40,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 20,000 to 34,000 BTU per hour with propane. The ECHEL60IN-C operates from 28,000 to 50,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 20,000 to 37,500 BTU per hour with propane. The ECHEL72IN-C operates from 30,000 to 58,000 BTU per hour with natural gas or 25,000 to 45,000 BTU per hour with propane. These models are supplied for natural gas and require the appropriate certified conversion kit for propane operation. Gas conversion must be completed by a qualified service technician.

Certification and heating-use notice: The ECHEL36IN-C is listed as a vented decorative gas appliance and is not intended for use as a heat source or with a thermostat. The ECHEL48IN-C, ECHEL60IN-C, and ECHEL72IN-C are listed as direct vent heaters for supplemental room heating or decorative use, but they must not be used as the primary heat source in residential heating calculations. These fireplaces are not designed to burn wood or any other solid fuel.

Minimum cutout and rough-framing dimensions are stated as width × height × depth. The ECHEL36IN-C requires 48-1/4 × 42 × 18-1/4 inches. The ECHEL48IN-C requires 60-1/4 × 42 × 18-1/4 inches. The ECHEL60IN-C requires 72-1/4 × 48 × 18-1/4 inches. The ECHEL72IN-C requires 84-1/4 × 48 × 18-1/4 inches. All four models use a 10-inch rough opening for the vent pipe. Framing dimensions must be adjusted for interior sheathing, and a header deeper than 3-1/2 inches may require notching to maintain the required vent-pipe clearances.

Important venting requirements: These are top-vent appliances and must use approved Majestic DVP direct-vent components. The vent may not be connected to a pipe serving another appliance, and vent parts or joining methods from different manufacturers must not be mixed. The ECHEL36IN-C, ECHEL48IN-C, and ECHEL60IN-C require at least 18 inches of vertical venting before attaching an elbow. The ECHEL72IN-C requires at least 30 inches of vertical venting before attaching an elbow. Required vent clearances, firestops, supports, flashing, termination placement, and allowable horizontal and vertical runs must follow the model-specific vent diagrams in the installation manual.

Important framing and clearance requirements: The factory-supplied non-combustible board must be installed, the top standoffs must be secured in their installation position, and the appliance must be level and firmly attached to the framing. Standard minimum clearances include 1 inch behind the appliance, 1 inch at each side, 48 inches of clear space in front, 31 inches from the top of the fireplace opening to the ceiling, and 55-1/2 inches from the bottom of the appliance to the ceiling. The appliance may sit at floor level or on a properly constructed code-compliant platform. The chase must be insulated and sealed as part of the building's thermal envelope. Special instructions apply to vinyl flooring, mantels, televisions, combustible wall projections, and installations using Passive Heat or another heat-management system.

Electrical requirements: The fireplace requires an unswitched 110-120 VAC electrical supply wired with a minimum 14-2 AWG cable with ground. Electrical wiring and grounding must comply with applicable local codes and the National Electrical Code or Canadian Electrical Code. GFCI protection is required where applicable, including certain bathroom or near-sink installations. Low-voltage and 110-120 VAC wiring must not share the same wall box.
