The Majestic Marquis II Top Direct Vent Gas Fireplace combines a large traditional fire presentation with advanced lighting and control features. Available as the 36-inch MARQ36IN-B and 42-inch MARQ42IN-B, each single-sided fireplace features a wide view of the flames, a detailed masonry-style interior and a seven-piece split-log set arranged over glowing embers, lava rock and an illuminated ember bed.

Both models are supplied for natural gas. Approved propane conversion kits are available. After conversion, the 36-inch model operates from 24,000 to 43,500 BTU per hour, and the 42-inch model operates from 23,500 to 47,500 BTU per hour. These fireplaces are intended for supplemental room heat and decorative use rather than as the primary heating source for a home.

Direct vent technology draws combustion air from outside the building and sends combustion exhaust outdoors through a sealed vent system, so an additional outside-air kit is not required. The fire is viewed through anti-reflective ceramic glass, described as ClearView glass in the Marquis II product literature, which reduces reflections and provides a more open view of the flames and logs.

Standard accent lighting and electric ember-bed lighting illuminate the interior even at lower flame settings. The included IntelliFire Touch IFT-RC400 touchscreen remote is paired and tested at the factory. It controls fireplace on/off operation, flame height, thermostat settings, accent-light intensity, electric ember lighting and Cold Climate mode. The control system also includes a nine-hour safety shutdown and an emergency battery-backup system for basic fireplace operation during a power outage. Lights, optional heat-management equipment and other auxiliary functions requiring household power will not operate from battery backup.

A certified firescreen decorative barrier front is required to complete the fireplace and must remain installed during operation. The 36-inch model accepts FSMQ36 firescreen fronts in black, gun metal or new bronze, while the 42-inch model uses the corresponding FSMQ42 fronts. The fronts can overlap finishing material up to 1 inch thick or be installed inside non-combustible finishing material up to 10 inches thick when the supplied finishing templates and required opening clearances are followed.

A compatible refractory interior is also required. Available choices include Tavern Brown traditional brick and Tavern Brown herringbone brick. A reflective black glass interior can also be created by combining the appropriate GLMQ glass-wall kit with the required black hearthbrick and top refractory. The refractory system is a required safety component, and the fireplace must not be operated without the approved interior properly installed.

The MARQ36IN-B and MARQ42IN-B are top-vent-only fireplaces designed for approved Hearth & Home Technologies DVP direct vent components. A standard DVP system uses a 5-inch inner exhaust pipe and an 8-inch outer combustion-air pipe. Vent components, fittings and joining methods from different manufacturers must not be mixed, and the fireplace requires its own dedicated vent system.

An unswitched 110–120 VAC electrical supply must be provided using a minimum 14-2 AWG cable with ground. The appliance's IntelliFire Touch controls operate on a 6-volt, 1.5-amp system. Four AA batteries may be installed for emergency operation, but batteries are not included and are not intended to serve as the primary power supply. Household voltage must never be connected directly to the gas valve or low-voltage wall control, and line-voltage and low-voltage wiring cannot share the same wall box.

The factory-supplied non-combustible boards, header heat shields and appliance standoffs must be properly installed and must not be removed or replaced with unapproved materials. Finishing material must not obstruct airflow, the glass opening, the decorative front or service access. Materials surrounding the fireplace should be rated to withstand temperatures up to 190°F, and gaps between the finished wall and the appliance top and sides must be sealed with sealant rated for at least 300°F continuous exposure.
