The Majestic Pioneer III Wood Burning Fireplace combines the appearance of a traditional built-in fireplace with the controlled performance of a modern wood heater. Model PIONEER-III-REC includes a single rectangular cast-iron door in classic black, providing a clean architectural profile and a wide ceramic-glass view of the fire.

A compatible decorative fascia is required to complete the installation and is sold separately. The PIONEER-III-REC uses the DF-PIII-MR Mission Rectangular Front in classic black. The selected front must remain removable after the surrounding wall and finishing materials are installed so the fireplace can be inspected and serviced.

The Pioneer III features a large 4.06-cubic-foot welded steel firebox designed to accommodate properly seasoned cordwood up to approximately 24 inches long. High-quality insulating firebrick lines the firebox to help retain heat and protect the steel structure. Fires are built directly on the firebrick floor; a wood grate must not be installed or used.

Current model-specific technical documentation lists an EPA-tested output of approximately 18,000 BTU per hour and a calculated peak output of up to 85,175 BTU per hour. Tested efficiency is approximately 73% LHV and 68% HHV. Actual output and heating performance will vary with the firewood species, moisture content, fuel load, chimney draft, home construction, climate and fireplace location.

Smart Burn Technology simplifies starting, reloading and combustion-air management. Pressing the activation button opens the air control to its high position and illuminates a green indicator, showing that the fireplace is ready for a new fire or fuel reload. As the firebox warms, the system manages the combustion-air setting to support clean, efficient burning with less manual adjustment.

The Smart Burn system uses two thermocouples to monitor fireplace conditions. Indicator-light patterns communicate normal operation, thermocouple faults and a potential overfire condition. The air control can also be operated manually when electrical power and backup batteries are unavailable, provided the actuator is disconnected and reconnected according to the owner’s manual.

The included single rectangular door uses 5 mm ceramic glass to provide a clear view of the fire while maintaining controlled combustion. During normal operation, the door must be fully closed and securely latched. It may be left slightly open only during the specific fire-starting stages described in the owner’s manual. Leaving the door partly open after the fire is established can cause overfiring, smoke spillage or escaping sparks and embers.

The Pioneer III includes a 400 CFM convection system with two factory-installed fans. Fan speed is adjusted from the control behind the lower access panel and varies in response to fireplace temperature. The fans help circulate heated air into the room but require household electricity and do not operate from battery backup.

An 110–120 VAC, 60 Hz grounded electrical supply is required, with the rating label specifying less than 3 amps. The installer must provide 14-2 cable with ground and make all connections before the framed enclosure is completed. GFCI protection is required when applicable under electrical codes, including qualifying damp-location installations.

The PIONEER-III-REC is approved for qualifying manufactured or mobile-home installations when it is not installed in a sleeping room, the required outside combustion-air system is provided, the structural integrity of the home is maintained and the fireplace is grounded to the home’s frame according to the installation manual.

Professional installation is required. Before operation, the installer must verify the supporting structure, framing, clearances, fan-air return, outside-air system, electrical connections, hearth extension, protective strips, firebrick, baffle, ceramic blanket, rectangular door, required fascia, chimney joints, firestops, attic shield, flashing and termination. The fireplace must not be operated until every required component is correctly installed.

Local codes and individual installation conditions may require different materials, components or dimensions. Always verify all technical information and follow the current Majestic installation manual, owner’s manual and instructions supplied with the required front, chimney, hearth, air systems, Heat-Zone kit and other accessories before purchasing, framing, finishing, installing or operating the fireplace.
