Majestic Quartz Platinum 36-inch Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Majestic Quartz Platinum 36-Inch Direct Vent Gas Fireplace combines a traditional fireplace appearance with upgraded controls, lighting and heat circulation. Available as the natural gas model or the propane model, this shallow-depth fireplace features eight detailed ceramic fiber logs, glowing embers, ceramic viewing glass and an illuminated electric ember bed that adds depth and warmth to the fire presentation.

The Quartz Platinum includes the IntelliFire Touch ignition system, an RC400 touchscreen remote and a factory-installed variable-speed blower. The remote provides convenient control of fireplace on/off operation, flame height, thermostat settings, fan speed, electric ember-bed intensity and the Cold Climate pilot function. An optional IntelliFire Wi-Fi module can be added for compatible app-based control. Battery backup allows basic fireplace operation during a power outage, although the blower, ember lighting and other accessories requiring household power will not operate from the backup batteries.

The QUARTZPLA36IN natural gas fireplace has a certified input range of 15,000 to 30,500 BTU per hour. The QUARTZPLA36IL propane fireplace has a certified input range of 15,000 to 29,500 BTU per hour. These fireplaces are approved for supplemental room heating or decorative use and are not intended to serve as a home's primary heat source.

A decorative barrier front and refractory liner are required and sold separately to complete the fireplace. Compatible front choices include the DBM36BK Decorative Black Mesh Front or a CRD36 Contemporary Rectangular Door in Black or New Bronze. One interior refractory option must also be selected: the GLQUARTZ36PLA Reflective Black Glass Refractory Kit or the BRICK36TBPLA Tavern Brown Brick Refractory Kit. The fireplace must never be operated without the approved decorative barrier front, refractory liner and fixed glass assembly properly installed.

The Quartz Platinum offers convertible top or rear direct venting. Only approved Hearth & Home Technologies vent components may be used, and components, fittings or joining methods from different manufacturers must not be mixed.

An unswitched 110-120 VAC electrical supply wired with a minimum 14-2 AWG cable and ground is required for normal IntelliFire Touch operation. The junction box must not be connected to a switched circuit, and low-voltage control wiring cannot share the same wall box with 110-120 VAC wiring. Four AA batteries may be installed for emergency operation during a power outage, but batteries are not intended as a permanent power source and should be removed when normal electrical power is restored.

The fireplace must be installed on a hard metal or wood surface extending across its full width and depth and must not be installed directly on carpet or vinyl. The factory-installed non-combustible board above the opening must not be removed. Finishing materials around the appliance should be suitable for temperatures up to 190 degrees Fahrenheit, and gaps between the finished wall and the top or sides of the appliance must be sealed with material rated for at least 300 degrees Fahrenheit. A minimum non-combustible zone of 12 inches is required above the appliance for a top-vent installation, while a rear-vent installation requires at least 3-1/2 inches above the appliance.

Gas supply, electrical wiring, vent preparation, air-shutter adjustment, refractory installation, log placement, leak testing and final startup must be completed by qualified personnel. The appliance must be level, square and securely attached to the framing, and all packaging, protective materials and the installation splatter guard must be removed before operation.
