Majestic Ruby Direct Vent Gas Insert

The Majestic Ruby Direct Vent Gas Insert transforms an existing wood-burning fireplace into a convenient source of real flame, supplemental heat and traditional hearth style. Available in 25-inch, 30-inch and 35-inch sizes, the Ruby is designed for installation into qualifying solid-fuel masonry fireplaces or UL 127-listed factory-built fireplaces. Its sealed direct vent system draws combustion air from outdoors and sends exhaust outside through the existing chimney, eliminating the need for a separate outside-air kit.

The series is offered for either natural gas or propane. Maximum input ranges from 25,000 to 35,000 BTUs, depending on model and fuel type, making it possible to select the insert that best matches the existing fireplace opening and desired heat output. The Ruby is approved as a supplemental room heater or decorative appliance and is not intended to serve as the primary heating system for a residence.

A detailed hand-painted oak log set, Glowing Embers and Mystic Embers create a warm, traditional fire presentation behind durable ceramic glass. 

The Ruby includes a factory-installed convection fan to circulate heated air into the room. Fan speed and flame height are controlled through the included IFT-RC400 touchscreen remote, which also provides thermostat operation, room-temperature display, timer control, child-lock functionality, Cold Climate pilot mode and appliance-status notifications. 

The IntelliFire Touch intermittent-pilot ignition system automatically lights the pilot and burner only when heat is requested, helping conserve fuel when the fireplace is off. The control system also includes a nine-hour safety shutdown following uninterrupted operation without a new command. During a power outage, the USB-C battery-backup connection can operate the burner from the supplied four-AA battery source for up to approximately 72 hours, although the fan, accent lights, Wi-Fi and other AC-powered functions will not operate on backup power.

The Ruby is available with multiple finishing choices. Clean Screen and Contemporary Arch safety fronts are offered in Black or New Bronze, while a Black Inside Fit front is available for installations that require a smaller custom surround. A decorative barrier front is required and must remain installed whenever the insert is operating. Small, medium and large metal surrounds are available to cover the space between the insert and the existing fireplace opening, with custom surround options available for unusual openings.

The Ruby uses a vertical direct vent system with separate 3-inch flexible liners for exhaust and combustion air. Horizontal termination is not permitted. 

Normal operation requires continuous, unswitched 110-120 VAC power. The power cord may connect to a properly grounded receptacle installed within the existing fireplace or may be routed to a nearby outlet. GFCI protection is required where applicable under electrical codes, and line voltage must never be connected directly to the gas valve or low-voltage wall switch. The surround-mounted reset switch must be installed and left in the ON position for the appliance to operate.
