Majestic Ruby Platinum Direct Vent Gas Insert

The Majestic Ruby Platinum Direct Vent Gas Insert upgrades an existing wood-burning fireplace with the convenience, controllability and clean appearance of a modern gas fireplace. Available in 30-inch and 35-inch sizes, the Ruby Platinum combines a traditional eight-piece oak log presentation with amber glass media, glowing embers and standard LED lighting for a layered, realistic firebox display.

The RUBYP30IN and RUBYP35IN models are configured for natural gas, while the RUBYP30IL and RUBYP35IL models are configured for propane. The 30-inch natural gas model operates from 18,900 to 27,000 BTUs, and the 30-inch propane model operates from 17,500 to 25,000 BTUs. The larger 35-inch natural gas model delivers 22,890 to 32,700 BTUs, while the 35-inch propane model operates from 19,600 to 28,000 BTUs.

The IntelliFire Touch 2.0 intermittent pilot ignition system provides reliable electronic ignition and works with the included IFT2-RC450 touchscreen remote. From the remote, the fireplace can be turned on or off, the flame height can be adjusted, the fan speed can be changed and the intensity of the LED lighting can be controlled. A cold-climate pilot setting is also available, and the control system includes an automatic safety shutdown after approximately nine hours of continuous operation without a control command, except during applicable thermostat operation.

A factory-installed 160 CFM fan helps circulate heated air into the room. Fan operation is integrated with the included remote, allowing heat output and airflow to be adjusted without accessing the appliance controls. Standard LED lighting illuminates the amber glass media beneath the log set, adding depth and visual interest even at lower flame settings.

The IntelliFire Touch system also provides emergency battery-backup operation. A USB-C backup-power connection allows the burner to operate during an electrical outage using the supplied battery power source and four AA batteries. The four-AA backup source can support appliance operation for up to approximately 72 hours under documented conditions. Fan, LED lighting and other accessories that require household AC power will not operate while the fireplace is running from backup power.

A Majestic decorative barrier front and surround are required for operation and ordered separately. Available front styles include Inside Fit, Clean Screen and Contemporary Arch designs. Standard, deep and customizable surrounds are available for matching the insert to the existing fireplace opening. A minimum 1/2-inch opening must remain beneath the decorative front to prevent component overheating, and flooring or hearth materials must remain below the bottom of the surround.

The Ruby Platinum is designed for installation into an existing solid-fuel masonry fireplace or UL 127-listed factory-built wood-burning fireplace. Before installation, the existing fireplace and chimney must be inspected, cleaned and confirmed to be in sound condition. The wood-burning fireplace’s flue damper must be permanently locked open or completely removed. The supplied fireplace-conversion notice must also be permanently attached inside the existing firebox.

A continuous 110–120-volt AC electrical supply is required for normal operation of the ignition system, fan and LED lights. The supplied power cord may connect to an approved outlet inside the existing firebox or be routed to a nearby receptacle. The circuit must be properly grounded and must include GFCI protection where required by applicable electrical codes. Household line voltage must never be connected directly to the gas valve, low-voltage wall control or appliance wall switch. The reset switch supplied with the surround must be installed and placed in the ON position for the fireplace to operate.

The oak logs, amber glass media and glowing embers must be installed in the exact positions specified by Majestic. The 30-inch model uses approximately 7.5 pounds of the supplied glass media, while the 35-inch model uses approximately 10 pounds. Media must not fall onto the burner, pilot or air shutter. Embers must be placed loosely within the designated ember zone in a single layer no more than approximately 1/4 inch thick.

Before initial operation, a qualified technician should verify the gas connections, electrical wiring, air-shutter setting, log and media placement, fixed glass assembly, glass seal plate, decorative safety barrier and vent collar connection. During the initial break-in period, the fireplace should be operated continuously on high for three to four hours with adequate room ventilation, allowed to cool completely and then have the ceramic glass cleaned as directed.
