The Majestic Villawood Outdoor Wood Burning Fireplace with Traditional Refractory brings an authentic open-hearth fire to patios, outdoor rooms and covered entertaining areas. Available as the 36-inch ODVILLA-36T-B and 42-inch ODVILLA-42T-B, the Villawood is scaled for outdoor spaces where a lower-profile fireplace is preferred without sacrificing the sound, glow and character of a real wood fire.

Both models feature an open-hearth design with no standard glass barrier, creating an unobstructed view of the fire.

The included traditional brick-pattern refractory interior gives the firebox a classic masonry-inspired appearance while helping contain and reflect heat. The refractory hearth, back and side panels are required parts of the tested fireplace assembly and must remain properly installed whenever the fireplace is operated. Small hairline cracks and normal color changes can occur with use, but panels should be replaced if they crumble, expose the metal firebox or develop cracks wider than 1/4 inch.

Standard equipment also includes a factory-approved steel grate, dual gas-line knockouts, stainless steel mesh curtain screens and a dual cooling-air system. The grate positions the wood for proper airflow, while the mesh screens help control sparks and embers. The screens should remain closed while wood is burning, although they cannot prevent every burning particle from leaving the firebox.

The fireplace is decorative and should not be considered a primary heating source. It must not be used for cooking or warming food, and it must never be overfired or used to burn trash, large quantities of scrap lumber, charcoal or flammable liquids. The first three or four fires should be moderate in size to allow the paint, refractory and manufacturing materials to cure gradually.

The Villawood is approved for outdoor installation only. It does not have a flue damper and therefore cannot be installed indoors. The fireplace may be installed in an exterior chase or as an enclosed freestanding outdoor feature, but a freestanding installation must be positioned at least 10 feet from a combustible structure and enclosed to protect the appliance from impact.

The Villawood includes a dual cooling-air kit for installations using a combustible enclosure or combustible support surface. Both cooling-air hoods must be installed during the original construction, positioned where snow, leaves, ice and yard debris cannot block them, and located away from the chimney termination. The lowest point of each hood or approved replacement grille must be at least 12 inches above the bottom of the fireplace. A substitute grille must provide at least 25 square inches of open area.

The cooling-air hoods are not required when the fireplace is installed on concrete and completely enclosed with non-combustible construction such as metal studs and cement board. Cooling air must never be drawn from an attic, garage, wall cavity, floor cavity or another enclosed space.

Optional ODVGF-36 and ODVGF-42 bi-fold glass doors are available for the corresponding fireplace sizes. When installed, the doors must be operated either fully open or fully closed; partially open doors can disrupt draft and draw smoke or flames toward the opening. The standard fireplace does not require optional doors for operation.

Professional installation is required. Before the first fire, the installer must verify the framing, clearances, cooling-air system, hearth extension, protective metal strips, refractory, grate, screens, chimney joints, supports, firestops, flashing and termination. All packaging must be removed, and the completed fireplace opening should be checked for square before optional glass doors are installed.
