Napoleon Altitude X 36-inch Direct Vent Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Altitude X 36-Inch Direct Vent Gas Fireplace combines a clean, contemporary appearance with a deep traditional firebox and a wide range of decorative options. Available for natural gas (AX36NTE-2) or propane (AX36PTE-2), this built-in fireplace features a clean-face design with a full firebox flame, creating an unobstructed view of the fire while allowing the surrounding finish to remain the focus.

Napoleon’s exclusive NIGHT LIGHT adds accent illumination to the firebox, enhancing the fireplace even when the main burner is not the focal point. Flame height, lighting and blower functions can be managed through the included ProFlame II remote control and eFIRE Controller. The flame can be adjusted through multiple levels, while the included heat-circulating blower provides variable-speed operation and thermostatic control for greater flexibility.

The Altitude X is designed to be customized rather than limited to a single factory appearance. A compatible High Definition log kit is required, with Birch, Driftwood and Oak options available for the 36-inch model. A compatible decorative panel is also required, with choices including Black Illusion Glass, MIRRO-FLAME heat-radiating reflective black porcelain, Newport brick and Westminster brick patterns. 

A premium safety screen is included and provides a barrier in front of the hot viewing glass. The Altitude X also incorporates an electronic ignition system, battery backup capability and an included firestop. During a power interruption, the battery system can maintain basic burner operation, although powered accessories such as the blower and NIGHT LIGHT will not operate without household power.

The AX36 uses a 5-inch exhaust / 8-inch air intake direct vent system with top venting. Overall appliance dimensions are approximately 35.5 inches wide x 42.4375 inches high x 18.88 inches deep. The natural gas model is rated for a maximum input of 35,500 BTU/hr, while the propane model is rated for a maximum input of 34,000 BTU/hr at elevations from 0 to 4,500 feet.

Designed for indoor built-in installations, the Altitude X can be incorporated into a variety of fireplace designs while maintaining the traditional proportions of a square firebox. Approved applications include bedroom, bathroom and bed-sitting room installations, and the fireplace is certified for qualifying mobile-home installations when installed in accordance with applicable requirements.
