Napoleon Ascent X 42-inch Electronic Ignition Direct Vent Fireplace

The Napoleon Ascent X 42-inch Electronic Ignition Direct Vent Gas Fireplace combines a traditional fireplace appearance with modern controls, flexible venting and a generous 42-inch-wide firebox. Available as the natural gas model and propane model, the Ascent X BX42 delivers up to 30,000 BTU/hr and features an authentic fire presentation built around a hand-painted split oak log set and glowing ember bed.

A pan-style burner produces a broad, natural-looking flame pattern around the included oak logs, while adjustable flame and heat settings let you tailor the appearance of the fire. The included NIGHT LIGHT ember bed lighting adds depth and a warm glow beneath the logs, enhancing the fireplace even further. Heat-radiating ceramic glass provides a clear view of the flames, while the included premium safety barrier helps reduce the risk of accidental contact with the hot viewing glass.

Convenient everyday operation is built into the Ascent X. An included remote control provides control over fireplace power, flame height and blower speed from across the room. The included heat-circulating blower uses variable-speed operation to help move warm air into the living space, providing additional control over the fireplace experience.

The BX42 uses electronic ignition with Napoleon Pilot-on-Demand. The ignition system supports intermittent pilot ignition along with a continuous pilot mode and integrated seven-day timer. In intermittent mode, the pilot lights when the fireplace is turned on and shuts down with the main burner when operation ends, helping reduce unnecessary fuel use. A battery backup capability also allows the fireplace to be operated during a power interruption when connected to an appropriate backup power source.

This 42-inch direct vent gas fireplace supports both top and rear venting using a 5-inch exhaust and 8-inch air intake vent system. Approved flexible or rigid direct venting configurations can be used as specified by Napoleon. Direct vent construction provides dedicated exhaust and combustion-air pathways, helping isolate the combustion system from the room while providing flexible installation options.

The BX42 measures approximately 42 inches wide x 34.625 inches high x 18.3125 inches deep. Its built-in design can be customized with a wide selection of Napoleon accessories, including MIRRO-FLAME heat-radiating reflective black porcelain panels, Newport, Old Town Red, Sandstone and Westminster decorative brick panels. Optional Zen, Heritage and wrought iron fronts and surrounds are also available to help coordinate the fireplace with traditional, transitional or contemporary interiors.
