Napoleon Galaxy See-Thru 50-inch Electronic Ignition Outdoor Natural Gas Fireplace

The Napoleon Galaxy See-Thru 50-inch Electronic Ignition Outdoor Natural Gas Fireplace is built around the GSS50NE base fireplace and requires the GSS50STC stainless-steel see-through conversion kit to create the two-sided configuration described here. The base fireplace does not provide a complete see-through installation by itself. The GSS50STC kit must be selected at the time of purchase and included with the order so the fireplace can be viewed from both sides of an outdoor feature wall.

With a maximum natural gas input of 50,000 BTUs and automatic electronic ignition, the Galaxy creates a wide, contemporary flame presentation without requiring the pilot to be lit manually. Its expansive 20-inch-high viewing area provides a clear view of the flames from both sides, making this configuration well suited for outdoor divider walls, patios, pool areas, outdoor kitchens, and other properly ventilated outdoor living spaces.

The firebox is constructed from durable 304 stainless steel for outdoor use. Clear glass embers create a clean, modern media bed, while the included glass wind guard helps protect the flame from wind and improves its overall appearance. An included finishing flange defines the perimeter of the fireplace opening and creates a finished, full-view installation. Framing and finishing materials must not extend inside the finishing flange.

Integrated multi-color LED ember-bed and wind-guard lighting adds visual interest even when the burner is not operating. Seven available lighting colors include red, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, and white, allowing the appearance of the fireplace to be adjusted for different settings and occasions.

An included wall-mounted control switch provides convenient operation of both the fireplace and its lighting. The control uses separate switches for the burner and lights, allowing each function to operate independently. A 20-foot control wire is provided for installation flexibility. When the fireplace switch is turned on, the electronic ignition system automatically sparks, lights the pilot, and then lights the main burner.

The GSS50NE must be hardwired to a 120V electrical supply and properly grounded according to applicable electrical codes. Electrical work should be completed by a qualified electrician. A 3V adapter supplies power to the ignition controls, while a 12VDC, 4-amp transformer powers the LED lighting. Do not connect 120V directly to the gas valve or wall switch because incorrect wiring can damage the controls.

This appliance is certified for outdoor use only and must never be installed inside the warm-air envelope of a structure. At least 30 percent of the outdoor living-space periphery must remain permanently open and unobstructed. A sheltered location is recommended because direct wind can disrupt the flame or cause pilot and burner outages.
